This week on Chalk Talk features Flying Kites... That's right! Fly a Kite for Alta Mira and support families. Also, an afternoon of gold with Tarde De Oro and how you can see New Mexico history through music and arts.
First segment on the show features Tarde de Oro and is the title of the exciting senior citizen-focused
production that celebrates the rich, ever-evolving absolutely unique culture of
New Mexico and the American Southwest. The show begins
with our Native American roots, moves to the Spanish and later Mexican
influences which collide with the "Go west young man" culture of the
cowboys and miners. Director Frances Lujan joins the show to talk about the
production you need to see in Albuquerque on Thursday April 28th at
the Kimo Theater. Featured segment on Chalk Talk encourages you to go fly a kite for good reason. KiteFest is Alta Mira's signature brand and fund raising
event. The last Saturday of April each year, KiteFest draws hundreds of
attendees to Balloon Fiesta Park in support of families impacted by
developmental disabilities. When you come to enjoy a family day and fly a
kite, you will also be supporting over 1400 New Mexico families who are faced
with overwhelming challenges and obstacles every day. Kathy Duffy with Alta Mira joins the show to talk about how you can support families.

Dr. Cathy Tingstrom joins the show to talk about how the value of the UNM Adapted Sports Festival for individuals with a
disability is that it provides an opportunity, through adapted sport and
recreation activities, to experience the power of their ability and not
focus on their disability. The community is encouraged to join in and support these athletes.
