Chalk Talk - Episode 361 4/16/16

This week on Chalk Talk features Flying Kites... That's right! Fly a Kite for Alta Mira and support families. Also, an afternoon of gold with Tarde De Oro and how you can see New Mexico history through music and arts.

First segment on the show features Tarde de Oro and is the title of the exciting senior citizen-focused production that celebrates the rich, ever-evolving absolutely unique culture of New Mexico and the American Southwest. The show begins with our Native American roots, moves to the Spanish and later Mexican influences which collide with the "Go west young man" culture of the cowboys and miners. Director Frances Lujan joins the show to talk about the production you need to see in Albuquerque on Thursday April 28th at the Kimo Theater. Featured segment on Chalk Talk encourages you to go fly a kite for good reason. KiteFest is Alta Mira's signature brand and fund raising event. The last Saturday of April each year, KiteFest draws hundreds of attendees to Balloon Fiesta Park in support of families impacted by developmental disabilities. When you come to enjoy a family day and fly a kite, you will also be supporting over 1400 New Mexico families who are faced with overwhelming challenges and obstacles every day. Kathy Duffy with Alta Mira joins the show to talk about how you can support families.
